Itinerary
Bangkok/Delhi/Kathmandu – Paro (2,280m)
Your journey begins with a spectacular flight into Paro, regarded as one of the most dramatic landings in the world. As the aircraft approaches Bhutan, you will fly parallel to the mighty Himalayas, offering breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks including Mt. Everest (weather permitting). The descent into Paro Valley reveals lush green hills, traditional farmhouses, and the winding Paro Chhu river before landing at Bhutan’s only international airport.Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your guide and escorted to a nearby restaurant for refreshments, allowing you to relax and rejuvenate after your flight. After the break, begin exploring the scenic Paro Valley, starting with the National Museum (Ta Dzong), a former watchtower that houses a fascinating collection of Bhutanese art, cultural relics, and historical artifacts. Continue to Rinpung Dzong, also known as the “Fortress on a Heap of Jewels,” an architectural marvel serving as both a monastic and administrative center. Once the sightseeing is completed, you will proceed to your hotel for check-in, where you can unwind and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure, soaking in the serene atmosphere of the valley.

Paro – Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest) & Drugyel Dzong
After breakfast, drive approximately 30 minutes to the base of Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest). The hike takes about five hours round trip along a well-marked trail lined with prayer flags and water-driven prayer wheels. Perched dramatically on a cliff 1,000 meters above the valley floor at 3,120m, Taktsang is one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites in the Himalayan Buddhist world. It is believed that Guru Padmasambhava flew here on the back of a tigress in the 8th century and meditated in a cave to subdue evil forces.
After descending and enjoying lunch, visit the ruins of Drugyel Dzong (“Castle of the Victorious Drukpas”), built in 1649 to commemorate Bhutan’s victory over Tibetan invasions. On clear days, enjoy magnificent views of Mt. Jomolhari. En route back to the
hotel, visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest temples, built in the 7th century and believed to pin down a giant ogress.

Paro – Gynekha – Gur (3,290m)
Distance: 7 km | Duration: 5 hours | Ascent: 550m | Descent: 210m
After breakfast, drive about one hour to Gynekha, the trek starting point. The trail begins with a short descent to a stream before ascending gradually through alpine meadows and yak grazing pastures. The climb leads to a scenic rock platform offering sweeping views of the valley below. Continue trekking for approximately five hours until reaching the campsite at Gur (3,290m), surrounded by highland landscapes and distant peaks.

Gur – Labatama (4,300m)
Distance: 12 km | Duration: 6 hours | Ascent: 1,220m | Descent: 110m
Today’s trek is both challenging and rewarding. The trail climbs steadily through ridges adorned with wild alpine flowers and rugged mountain vegetation. After crossing the first pass at approximately 4,520m, you are rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of Kanchenjunga and many Himalayan peaks within Bhutanese territory. The route continues across meadows dotted with yak herder huts before descending gently to Labatama, your campsite near the tranquil Uthso Tsho lake.

Labatama (Acclimatization Day – 4,300m)
This day is reserved for acclimatization and exploration of the surrounding alpine lakes. You may undertake short hikes to Reli Tsho, Hen Tsho, and Jama Tsho, each offering pristine waters reflecting the surrounding peaks. The region is rich in high-altitude flora and fauna, and the scenery is truly spectacular. Optional trout fishing may be arranged.

Labatama – Panka (4,000m)
Distance: 8 km | Duration: 6–7 hours | Ascent: 260m | Descent: 520m
The trail ascends gently along the western side of Dala Lake toward a mountain saddle at 4,520m. From this vantage point, enjoy a magnificent parade of Himalayan peaks including Everest, Kanchenjunga, Jomolhari, Jichu Drake, Masang Gang, and others. After taking in the views, descend to Doccha Chhu river and follow its course to Panka. The trail includes short intermittent climbs and descents.

Panka – Talakha (3,080m)
Distance: 8 km | Duration: 5–6 hours | Pass: Tale La (4,180m)
Today you cross several minor passes with gradual ascents and descents. During June and July, you may spot Bhutan’s national flower, the Blue Poppy, along with rare high-altitude birds. After crossing Tale La Pass at 4,180m, descend toward Talakha Monastery. Camp near the monastery and enjoy panoramic views overlooking Thimphu Valley. The early morning chants of monks create a peaceful atmosphere.

Talakha – Chamgang – Thimphu (2,334m)
Distance: 6 km | Duration: 3 hours descent
A short walk takes you to a feeder road near Chamgang village, marking the end of your trek. From here, drive to Thimphu and check into your hotel. The rest of the day is free for relaxation after several days in the wilderness.

Thimphu Sightseeing (2,334m)
Explore Bhutan’s capital, Thimphu, starting with a visit to the National Memorial Stupa, built in honor of the Third King, followed by Buddha Point, which offers panoramic views of the Thimphu Valley. Continue to Simply Bhutan to experience traditional Bhutanese culture, then visit the Takin Preserve and a traditional handmade paper factory. In the evening, explore Tashichhodzong, the seat of Bhutan’s government and monastic body, and enjoy a leisurely stroll through the town.

Thimphu – Punakha (1,200m)
Drive: 3–4 hours | Dochula Pass: 3,100m
Drive through changing landscapes to Dochula Pass, where 108 memorial stupas stand against the backdrop of the eastern Himalayas. Descend into the subtropical Punakha Valley, Bhutan’s ancient capital. Visit Punakha Dzong, situated at the confluence of two rivers, and later hike to Chimi Lhakhang, the Temple of Fertility, associated with Lam Drukpa Kuenley.

Punakha – Paro (2,280m)
Distance: 125 km | Duration: 4 hours drive
Start your day with an early morning visit to the iconic Punakha Suspension Bridge, one of Bhutan’s most picturesque bridges offering stunning views of the river and valley. Afterward, drive to Khamsum Yulley Namgyel Chorten, a beautiful hilltop temple overlooking the Punakha Valley, and explore its serene surroundings. In the afternoon, drive approximately 125 km (about 4 hours) drive back to Paro, enjoying views along the way.
