After a short introduction, begin your scenic drive to Thimphu, Bhutan’s charming capital nestled in the heart of a valley surrounded by pine-covered hills (approx. 1.5 to 2 hours). En route, stop at Tamchog Lhakhang, a 15th-century temple built by the legendary bridge builder Thangtong Gyalpo, and cross his iconic iron chain bridge suspended above the Paro River. Upon reaching Thimphu, check in to your hotel and relax. Later, take a gentle walk along Norzin Lam Street, buzzing with handicraft shops, bakeries, and locals in traditional attire. Today, prepare for a soul-stirring adventure, a hike to the Taktsang Monastery, famously known as the Tiger’s Nest. Legend says Guru Rinpoche flew here on the back of a tigress to subdue a demon and meditated in the cliffside cave. The hike (approx. 4–5 hours round trip) is moderately challenging but incredibly rewarding. As you ascend through pine forests scented with moss and prayer flags, each step offers inspiration. Reach the viewpoint for the postcard-perfect view of the monastery clinging to the cliff at 3,120 meters.
